Welcome to The Shape of Things. Above is a photograph I took in the summer of 2023. It is blurry and not very good. But this was a photograph I really wanted; I was nearing the end of a twelve-hour drive from Nashville to my hometown in Wisconsin when the sky turned brilliantly orange and pink. I was in awe. My film camera was in the passenger seat next to me, and the next exit was a scenic wayside stop. So I took the exit, parked, and ran outside.
Already the pinks and oranges were disappearing; this photograph is what was left.
